The origin of my work for Concertina is an interest in the idea of interior space, the grand simplified. Through a process of selection, stripping back and focusing on marks and their relation to shapes. The work aims to quietly celebrate the substance of the paint in fine layers - Polite and restrained with the occasional small flamboyance. Gently suggesting an image but not over explaining it. Ever conscious of the practice of image making, whilst trying to put down as little as possible, perhaps there is no more to give away.
