In response to the 12th Istanbul Biennale, Dial Zero held an art trail running alongside the official festival programme. Focusing on making small-scale interventions around the city, the trail took place in a number of non-gallery spaces in Kadikoy, on the Asian side of the city, accessible by use of the Bosphorous crossing.
As well as providing an opportunity for the artists to gain an insight into Turkish culture by making and exhibiting work that responded to a specific neighbourhood, the trail hoped to attract visitors to an area that is rarely visited by tourists or an art audience. In addition to this, the works on view aimed to attract interest from a local non-art audience and to explore ideas of map-making, exploration and place. Below are images from the trail.
