There will be a programme of curated performance events at the Ada Street Gallery during our current exhibition One Hand Clap.

Wednesday / 13th May 2009 8pm - 10pm (£5 / £4 conc)

Artists / Performers : Penny Pepper, Radcliffe Royds, Kristyan Robinson, Bob Goody

Curated by Sally Kindberg, Kristyan Robinson

Penny Pepper -

'Pains and Pleasures', an adaptable portmanteau of spoken word performance and readings by award winning writer Penny Pepper

reflective * provocative * witty * passionate *

'Rich and intelligent content, professionally delivered'
‘Challenged stereotypes and expectations’
‘Words were beautiful and I felt captivated by the performance’
Feedback forms, BAC Freshly Scratched Festival October 2008

Themes of quirky thoughtfulness, and as burlesque-rude as you want it. Choose sex and provocation, pensive reflections on rights and reasoning or the whole kaleidoscope from the eccentric and lyrical Pepper mindscape.

As a performer, Penny Pepper trained with Graeae Theatre Company, Theatre Resource, and have received support from performance poetry organisation Apples and Snakes.

Radcliffe Royds draws on a heady combination of high expectation and low self esteem and the experience of a life well lived to work as a story teller in prose and verse; relating stories of conflict and resolution.
Radcliffe is regular performer at "Spark" London

Kristyan Robinson is a visual artist and writer. She is interested in the ability of a good reading to illuminate or illustrate a text.
On Wedneday 13 May she will read 'Sir Walter Map', a story in verse written by her sister, medievalist Michele Robinson Greig.

Bob Goody trained at RADA many moons ago and has worked extensively as an actor, writer and performance poet.

Recent work includes: writing a libretto for an opera 'The Fashion' at Dusseldorf Opera House; touring Europe with the Tiger Lillies in a musical adaptation of 'The Little Match Girl'; a short film 'Curtains' which is being premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival; and an improvised feature film 'Late September' due for release this summer.

As a performance poet Bob has written several stand-up poetry shows including 'Mixing with the Sharks' and 'Bite of the Dog' for the Pleasance at the Edinburgh Festival, Soho Theatre, London and beyond.
